I actually did a job shadowing at the zoo when I was in high school and I remember stepping in those buckets too. Did you get to witness anything awesome when you were job shadowing, I witness the birth of some lil green monkeys that were extremely tiny…two of them were born right in front of me, within an hour. A monkey also hit me in the top of the head…it was a white faced gibbon I think, I guess that gibbon has been causing trouble in the Lied Jungle lately.

that is such a cool experience! no one rlly gets that kind of hands on stuff. do you wanna be a vet?

The only neat experience I really had was a Common Marmoset died while I was there :(
We saw it laying in the bottom of its enclosure, not moving, and the guy I was shadowing picked it up and it looked really weak and kind of like it was on drugs. We brought it to the vet and she did some blood tests on it. She thought it had renal failure, and then it never woke up from the anasthesia.
And the monkeys tried to throw some poop at me, but I dodged it thankfully.
And yes, I do want to be a vet, but I don't know if I want to go into exotics, small animal, large animal, or equine yet. I was just getting some experiece with exotics.

awh that is sad:( I think it would be hard for me… I get attached to things/animals too easily! lol, and yeah I bet you are pretty thankful that you dodged. did they just see you as a trespasser in their cage and they wanted you out?

No… the zookeepers said that the monkeys threw poop at almost everybody. That was just normal. The baboons were really the mean ones, though. There were 2 of them in a cage, and one bit 4 toes off the other one's foot.
