Wow, a lot of the info presented in this chapter was extremely interesting and it brought a lot of topics up that I have never thought about. Who would ever think to mix a bacterial pneumonia with a soil extract…COOL!!! Dubos discoveries would help fight bacterial infections and help make a new era in medicine. Then the discovery of gramicidin, proved to be rich sources of antibiotics, penicillin as an example. But who really discovered Penicillin, was it Fleming, or Florey and Chain. I think it was Fleming, but without the help of Florey and Chain it wouldn't have been readily available to people. Without their intervention, penicillin would have had only a small impact and not a large one, but this would pose a question to everyone that maybe their wouldn't be resistance to this antibiotic. I also have a question for everyone who would want to answer, or Dr. Robson. What does it mean when you are allergic to penicillin, because my father is, Penicillin is not a resistance is it??? Moving on to the Tuskegee study…WTF, totally not ethical by my account or the AZT study, but they did find good information from the studies. The AZT compound is very interesting and could be really beneficial, but where are they with it today??? Overall I think this was an interesting read.
